Corporate Finance Associate: Junior – Mid level (3 – 6 years' England & Wales PQE - or equivalent)

This role is working within the corporate finance team which currently comprises 10 partners and 17 associates. All associates within the team are actively encouraged to work for a wide range of partners to broaden their experience and expertise across the corporate disciplines; with the emphasis on flexibility of approach and being an "all rounder" (it being acknowledged however that historically candidates may have had greater experience in one area rather than another).

Key experience and skills required

§ Demonstrates the Stephenson Harwood values of individuality, commitment, teamwork and straight talking

§ Proven experience in the Life Sciences and Pharmaceutical industry

§ Broad range of corporate experience to include public and private M&A; equity capital markets; joint ventures; private equity and venture capital investments

§ Capital markets experience should include new issues (both main list and AIM) and secondary issues (rights issues and placings)

§ Corporate governance experience should include DTR's and Listing Rules advice as well as practical corporate support, including for example Articles of Association preparation and Annual Report reviews.

§ Ability and desire to work within a small, but growing, ambitious and entrepreneurial team

§ Background in a firm with an excellent corporate reputation

§ Ability to acquire, consolidate and apply fundamental and up-to-date knowledge of the law

§ Accuracy and attention to detail

§ Excellent verbal communication skills

§ Organised and able to work to strict deadlines with the ability to prioritise realistically

§ Good housekeeping/file management practices; managing and recording time promptly and accurately

§ Resilient with the ability to handle setbacks and pressure

§ Cooperative and collaborative in approach and able to develop excellent working relationships at all levels and within all roles

§ Ability to operate professionally and proactively at all times

§ Self aware and an active participant in self development

§ Flexible, a lateral thinker

§ Exhibits an understanding of the Firm’s position in the market and how it distinguishes its services from its competitors

§ Excellent academic and professional qualifications

Specific Tasks and Duties can include:

§ Clear, concise and unambiguous preparation and drafting of corporate documentation

§ Conducting legal research using internal and external knowledge management resources

§ Liaison with clients

§ Developing own informal internal and external network of contacts

§ Building excellent working relationships with clients and peers within SH

§ Attending business development and profile raising events (client seminars, graduate recruitment activities)
