Job Title: Policy and Public Affairs Officer

Job Details
Purpose of the job

You will be working on delivering a public affairs strategy to engage, inform and influence key stakeholders on the smart meter rollout and the opportunities presented by smart energy to central and local government, the third sector and the people they represent.

Working as part of a talented and creative team, you will help to deliver a dynamic programme of innovative communications, events and policy materials which will bring smart meters to life, and help to maintain a strong level of support for the rollout amongst opinion formers across the country.

Skills, experience and competencies


o Proven ability to deliver elements of a public affairs campaign
o Good knowledge and real interest in the workings and dynamics of UK politics
o Appreciation and interest in the workings of local government in Great Britain
o Appreciation and interest in the role of the third sector in policymaking
o Interest in the energy sector and/or of the digital economy
o Excellent communications skills (writing/verbal)
o Appreciation of the objectives and activities of Smart Energy GB
o Proven ability to confidently represent organisations in external settings
o Enthusiastic and self starting approach
o Appreciate the diversity of the people and communities of Great Britain and embrace this diversity in your approach to work


o Experience of working in Parliament or Whitehall
o Experience of working for the third sector or a think tank in energy or digital sector
o Experience of engaging and influencing local government
o A good network in either of these stakeholder groups
o A creative mind set
