Students returning to their courses this autumn will not only be learning about their chosen studies - they will also have a chance to get ‘Vegucated’ on their eating habits with two free screenings planned in November for this life-altering documentary.

Vegucated follows several New Yorkers as they attempt to go vegan for 6 weeks and in doing so they learn about where meat and dairy comes from, and some of the benefits of adopting a plant-based lifestyle.

'Too many students know absolutely nothing about their food,' says Alan Lee, organiser of the event and currently a 3rd year PhD student at Bristol University. ‘Vegucated gives a light-hearted look at the positive aspects of going vegan, and will help students gain a fresh awareness of the food they put into their bodies. It seems a paradox that we have some of the most intelligent people on the planet at university, and yet hardly any of them get any education about the food they eat. I aim to change this.'

Vegucated is set to be screened at the Polish Club on 1 and 6 November. The event starts at 6:30 pm and ends at 10 pm each night. Entry is FREE to the public, and the evenings include free pizza and snacks, stand-up comedians (Chris Stokes, Dominic Berry, Andrew O’Neill) as well as the film screening, a raffle and a discussion afterwards. Donations are highly welcome. All funds raised go to Vegfam charity, which feeds the hungry without exploiting animals.

People wishing to attend (both students and the public are welcome) should reserve their places in advance on the event booking page (for 1 November) or (for 6 November).
